ABSTRACT

Objective:To investigate the knowledge and compliance status of prevention and control of brucellosis among high-risk populations in counties and districts with high incidence of brucellosis in Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region (Xinjiang for brief), and to provide scientific basis for prevention and control of brucellosis and health education for high-risk populations. Methods:Huocheng County, a high incidence county of brucellosis in Xinjiang, was selected as the survey site. Three to six townships were selected, and two to three administrative villages were selected from each township as the survey villages. People over 18 years old and engaged in livestock breeding such as cattle and sheep breeders, livestock product processors, veterinarians and medical personnel were selected as the survey subjects. Face-to-face surveys were conducted by professional trained investigators in autumn and winter (December 2019 to January 2020) and spring and summer (April to July 2020). The survey included general demographic information, awareness of brucellosis prevention and control knowledge and the use of protective equipment. Results:A total of 600 people were surveyed, and 597 people completed the questionnaire, with an effective response rate of 99.50% (597/600). The overall awareness rate of brucellosis prevention and control knowledge was 68.23% (10 184/14 925), among which the awareness rate of clinical symptoms of human infection with brucellosis was high, at 73.53% (3 073/4 179). There were statistically significant differences in the awareness rate of main source of infection, main transmission route and clinical symptoms of human infection with brucellosis among people of different gender, age, nationality, education level and occupation ( P < 0.05). Among them, the awareness rate of clinical symptoms of human infection with brucellosis among veterinarians and medical personnel was 85.38% (514/602). The utilization rate of protective equipment such as rubber shoes and work clothes was high, which was 63.48% (379/597) and 60.97% (364/597), respectively. There were statistically significant differences in the utilization rate of protective equipment among different nationality, education level and occupation ( P < 0.05). Among them, The utilization rate of work clothes was the highest among people with college education or above, veterinarians and medical personnel, which was 82.61% (57/69) and 93.02% (80/86), respectively. Conclusions:The overall awareness rate of brucellosis prevention and control knowledge in high-risk groups in Huocheng County of Xinjiang is low, especially among high-risk groups such as those who are illiterate or have little literacy, and farmers, the awareness rate is low and the awareness of prevention and control is weak. There is a risk of brucellosis infection. It is necessary to further strengthen the education of brucellosis prevention and control knowledge among these groups.

ABSTRACT

Objective:To learn about the infection status of Anisakis larvae in the major economic marine products in the Yellow Sea and Bohai Sea, and provide baseline data for systematic monitoring of Anisakis and prevention and control of related diseases. Methods:From April 2016 to September 2020, the samples of marine products collected in the surrounding waters of 9 fishing sites in the Yellow Sea and Bohai Sea (Bohai Bay, the middle part of the Yellow Sea and Bohai Sea junction, the southern part of the Yellow Sea and Bohai Sea junction, the northern part of the Yellow Sea and the southern part of the Yellow Sea) in the coastal areas of Yantai City and Weihai City, Shandong Province were dissected and tested for worms. The infection and distribution of Anisakis larvae in different types of samples and different organs in the samples were compared, and the differences of the infection level of Anisakis larvae in marine fish among the surrounding waters of different fishing sites and different sampling sites in China were compared. At the same time, a survey on the awareness of health knowledge of anisakiasis was carried out among the residents near each fishing sites. Results:A total of 708 cases of 5 types of marine products were tested in the Yellow Sea and Bohai Sea, including 581 cases of marine fish, 22 cases of mollusks, 20 cases of echinodermata, 75 cases of crustaceans and 10 cases of shellfish. Anisakis larvae infection was detected only in marine fish (191 cases), and 4 723 Anisakis larvae were found. The infection rate was 32.87% (191/581) and the infection intensity was 24.73(4 723/191) larvae/case. They were mainly distributed in mesentery and intestinal wall (38.96%, 1 840/4 723), coelom (22.04%, 1 041/4 723) and gastric wall (17.95%, 848/4 723). The infection levels of Anisakis larvae in marine fish among the surrounding waters of different fishing sites were compared, the infection rate in the southern part of the Yellow Sea was the highest, and its infection intensity was significantly higher than that in the middle and southern part of the Yellow Sea and Bohai Sea junction ( P < 0.05). The infection levels of Anisakis larvae in marine fish among different sampling sites in China were compared, the infection rates of Zhoushan Port, the fish sold in Jinzhou, Yantai and Shantou were significantly higher than those in the Yellow Sea and Bohai Sea ( P < 0.05), and the infection rates of the fish sold in Dandong and Qingdao were significantly lower than those in the Yellow Sea and Bohai Sea ( P < 0.05). A total of 1 805 residents living near the Yellow Sea and Bohai Sea were investigated on the health knowledge of anisakiasis. Among them, 20.78% (375/1 805) residents had heard of anisakiasis, 15.73% (284/1 805) residents knew how to get it, 12.30% (222/1 805) residents knew the harm of anisakiasis to human body, and 16.68% (301/1 805) residents knew how to prevent it. Conclusions:The marine fish in the Yellow Sea and Bohai Sea are infected by the Anisakis larvae, and the level of infection is relatively high. In the future, we should strengthen the popularization of knowledge on prevention and control of anisakiasis.

ABSTRACT

Background Excessive intake of sugar-sweetened beverages (SSBs) is harmful to health. In recent decades, the consumption of SSBs by Chinese residents has increased rapidly, increasing the risk of death and burden of disease. Objective To analyze the knowledge level and influencing factors of SSBs for Chinese residents aged 18-64 years in 2021. Methods A multi-stage cluster random sampling approach was used to conduct a questionnaire survey among residents aged 18-64 years in 302 survey sites across the country in 2021, and 98567 valid questionnaires were obtained. Four questions are about SSBs among the questionnaire's 5 dimensions. Respondents who answered 3 or more questions correctly were considered to have a basic understanding of SSBs. Frequency and weighted proportion were used for description. With individual as level 1 and resident council (village council) as level 2, a two-level logistic regression model was applied to examine the influencing factors. A null model was used to determine whether the two-level logistic regression model was appropriate. Results The knowledge awareness rate of SSBs was 57.0% among the Chinese residents aged 18-64 years in 2021. The knowledge point with the lowest correct rate was "It is best to consume no more than 25 grams of added sugar per day" (22.6%), while the one with the highest correct rate was "Excessive intake of SSBs can increase the risk of obesity and diabetes" (81.1%). The results of the null model showed that SSBs knowledge level had a clustering effect at resident council (village council) level (t=25.00, P<0.0001), so a two-level model fit better than a one-level model. The results of the two-level logistic model revealed that residents who were female (OR=1.14, 95%CI: 1.11, 1.18) or working in medical and health (OR=1.36, 95%CI: 1.27, 1.45) and education institutions (OR=1.16, 95%CI: 1.07, 1.24) had a higher knowledge level compared to males or residents of other occupations. The knowledge level was lower among residents in central (OR=0.87, 95%CI: 0.77, 0.97) and western (OR=0.85, 95%CI: 0.75, 0.94) areas than in eastern areas. Those with chronic diseases (OR=0.81, 95%CI: 0.78, 0.84) and who did not know if they had a chronic disease (OR=0.75, 95%CI: 0.72, 0.78) had a lower knowledge level than those without chronic diseases. Compared with 18-24 years, the knowledge level was higher in ages 35-44 years (OR=1.07, 95%CI: 1.02, 1.12) and lower in ages 55-64 years (OR=0.92, 95%CI: 0.86, 0.97), and not different from the ages 25-34 years and 45-54 years. The knowledge level increased with the level of education, the trend was statistically significant (P<0.001). Conclusion Only about half of Chinese adults aged 18-64 years had a basic understanding of SSBs in 2021. The awareness rate of added sugar intake was low in particular. The knowledge levels of male, central and western, or less educated populations were even lower. Awareness of the negative health outcomes of SSBs was high among the population.

ABSTRACT

Objective:To investigate the awareness of diabetes knowledge among the health examination population and its influencing factors. Methods:A cross-sectional study. From september to november 2022, the subjects of six health examination centers located in six different cities (Beijing, Shanghai, Tianjin, Chongqing, Xiamen, Hangzhou) in China were investigated in the form of questionnaires to investigate the awareness of diabetes core information and the level of trust to different information sources of diabetes knowledge. According to the questionnaire results, the subjects were divided into a high awareness group of diabetes core information and a low awareness group. Logistic regression was used to analyze the influencing factors of diabetes core information awareness; the t-test was used to compare the trust degree of the two groups to different information sources. Results:A total of 9 315 people were included in the six centers, including 4 932 men (52.90%) with an average age of (39.36±12.64) years and 4 383 women (47.10%) with a mean age of (37.47±11.85) years. Only 36% of the people had high awareness of diabetes core information; variables such as gender, age, education level, physical examination frequency in the past three years, package price of this physical examination, self-evaluation of diabetes knowledge, diabetes status, and city of residence were variables that affect the level of awareness of core information related to diabetes (all P<0.05). Compared with the low awareness group of diabetes core information, the high awareness group trusted professional medical staff ( t=-9.597, P<0.05) and community health promotion more ( t=-5.014, P<0.05), but did not trust the emerging popular science propaganda means, such as WeChat official accounts/WeChat groups/QQ groups, Internet web page, Tiktok/Kwai and other short video APPs. Conclusion:The awareness rate of diabetes knowledge among the health examination population is low, and it is affected by many factors; Health education on diabetes knowledge should be carried out for people undergoing physical examination.

ABSTRACT

Objective:To investigate the awareness rate of " 1+ 1+ 1" contracted residents in the outer suburbs of Shanghai on the extended prescription policy of the family doctor contract service, and to analyze the influencing factors. Methods:From March to May, 2021, the cluster random sampling method was used to select one community health service center in Fengxian district, Shanghai, and a smart voice telephone assistant survey was conducted among the contracted residents aged 18 and above in the area, to understand their awareness of the extended prescription policy. χ2 Test was used for single factor analysis on the influence of different factors on the policy awareness of the contracted residents, while a multivariate analysis was performed by binary logistic regression, presenting P<0.05 as statistically significant. Results:A total of 13 495 " 1+ 1+ 1" contracted residents were surveyed via phone calls. Their awareness rate of extended prescription policy was 67.5% (9 115/13 495), while those with higher awareness rates were patients with ≥2 chronic diseases (92.3%), patients with 1 chronic disease (88.5%) and those aged 81 and above (88.4%). Logistic regression analysis showed that age, marital status, the number of chronic diseases and signing duration were all independent factors influencing the awareness of extended prescription policy (all P<0.05), while whether the residents were key population groups presented no significant influence on the awareness of extended prescription policy ( P=0.431). Conclusions:The awareness rate of " 1+ 1+ 1" contracted residents in the outer suburbs of Shanghai to the extended prescription policy needs to be further improved and publicity should also be strengthened to extend the policy benefit coverage.

ABSTRACT

ObjectiveTo determine the epidemiological characteristics and risk factors of hypertension in residents in Songjiang District of Shanghai, and provide evidence for prevention and control of hypertension. MethodsLocal residents aged between 20 and 74 years were recruited from four towns in Songjiang District from 2016 to 2017 by using a multistage sampling strategy. Questionnaire surveys were conducted, and then physical examination, blood pressure measurement, glucose test and lipid test were performed. The data was analyzed by SPSS 16.0 software. Chi-square test was used to compare the differences in the prevalence of hypertension in residents, stratified by demographics and health conditions. Risk factors were determined by multivariate logistic regression. ResultsAmong 35 759 residents with a median age of 58 years and the proportion of male being 40.67%, crude prevalence of hypertension was 54.24% (19 395/35 759) and standardized prevalence was 31.69%. In the hypertensive patients, proportion of hypertension awareness was 61.09%, with 63.67% in male and 59.10% in female. Proportion of receiving treatment was 49.00%, with 50.91% in male and 47.51% in female. Furthermore, in the hypertensive patients with treatment, proportion of effectively controlling hypertension was 40.50%, with 44.46% in male and 37.21% in female. Multivariate logistic regression showed that male (OR=1.272), senior age (40‒59 years old: OR=4.353, 60‒74 years old: OR=9.802), overweight (OR=1.823), obesity (OR=3.070), central obesity (OR=1.380), diabetes (OR=1.923), dyslipidemia (OR=1.452), and drinking (OR=1.338) were risk factors associated with hypertension. ConclusionPrevalence of hypertension is high, while the proportions of receiving treatment and effective control remain low in residents in Songjiang District. It warrants strengthening prevention and control of hypertension in targeted and young residents.

ABSTRACT

ObjectiveTo explore the awareness rate and the influencing factors of notification in elderly cancer patients, and to improve the community health management. MethodsA total of 622 cancer patients were selected from a community health service center in Jing’an District of Shanghai, who participated in the Survey of Unified Needs Assessment of Elderly Care in Shanghai. ResultsThe overall awareness rate was 62.86%. Multivariate analysis showed that elderly patients were more likely to have disease notification than younger patients. Patients were less likely to have notification if they were without spouse, with care needs and with more diseases other than cancer. Patients with family history of cancer, living with children were more likely to have notification (P< 0.05). Different tumor types might also influence the notification. Moreover, under the control of different factors, the influence effect on patients in specific age group may be different. (This sentence, in Chinse and English abstracts is confusing. Suggest authors to revise) ConclusionCommunity workers should develop corresponding health management strategies to improve the patients’ proper awareness, based on tumor category, of patient health status and family attitude.
